1982—1989
The beginnings
Ortoplast has its origins in Auxiplast, founded in 1982 by chemist Ramón Sambola after years working with Plexiglas. In the late 1980s, Rafa Sambola proposed a dedicated department to distribute plastics for orthopaedics—then introduced the material to Spanish companies personally.
1993—Today
The specialist company
Ortoplast became a company dedicated entirely to orthopaedic materials in 1993, later manufacturing proprietary ranges including Orthotransfer and SHOCKICEL®. Today, it supplies customers across Europe and markets from Canada and Mexico to India, Thailand and South Africa.
